Hello
Welcome to this site which recounts the trips made with Melody, a 38-foot ketch purchased in 2020, as well as the work undertaken on her.

Due to the challenges in finding practical and precise information on renovating a wooden sailboat, and also thanks to several people who encouraged me in sharing my work, I embarked on another challenge: creating this site.
I hope you will find enough material to understand, compare, plan, dream and why not start by yourself...

Good reading and browsing!

Ongoing works and topics
It's been a long time since the last update at the end of July!
And with good reason: the launch is scheduled for Thursday 21st and I've given priority to the work over the website...I hope you'll understand ;-)
I've had to work hard to get the boat ready:
- electricity: everything's working, while waiting for the mast to be connected... and that's a real pleasure as it was a first for me!
- the new antifouling is almost ready: the supporting platinas have been moved and I still have to complete the antifouling in these areas
- make as much progress as possible on the finishing touches, which won't be so easy to achieve once the boat is in the water and exposed to the elements
At last there's light at the end of the tunnel, and the prospect of putting Melody back in her element warms my heart, not to mention the sailing I can finally look forward to again ;-) It's the start of a new era: enjoying this boat that I now know like the back of my hand, and whose malfunctions/defects I've (hopefully) corrected.
Forecast for the coming weeks:
- conveyance on the canals to Brussels then Antwerp, and then to Nieuwpoort via the sea
- re-masting in Brussels
- some sailing from Nieuwpoort to make sure everything's working properly
- express return to France by car around 10-15 October to finish moving (1/2)
- return to Belgium with my father to convey the boat to Morbihan (arrival scheduled for the end of October)
- Express return to Belgium to finish the move (2/2)
- start of a new professional activity in Nantes/Saint-Nazaire at the beginning of November... some really interesting jobs lined up!
